Yolotales ( 12/14/2011 )

Yolotales

They don't make shows like Yolotales anymore. Watching this retro-inspired children's series took me back to my youth, a time when children's TV educated while informing, and puppets happily chatted with real humans. It feels like a bit of a throwback, but its exploration of modern issues like junk food and the environment helps it seem a bit fresher.

Yababu ( 7/21/2011 )

Yababu

With more tiny tots getting tech savvy, it makes sense that creative minds design web series for this growing audience. Yababu does just that with its short, educational videos. The clips are smart with accessible themes and plenty of color, while the minimalist website is easy for the smallest computer users to navigate.

BunnyBop ( 4/23/2011 )

There are many educational series for children, but few that target the very young. BunnyBop! looks to fill the gap with its mix of puppets and play. I feel sorry for the parents who'll inevitably end up watching this along with their little ones, but this is sweet stuff for ankle biters.

Gisele and the Green Team

When she's not strutting the catwalk, or popping out adorable babies, Gisele Bundchen is an eco-warrior. She shows off her green side in the new animated children's series, Gisele and the Green Team. It's easy to dismiss this as a mere rehashing of Captain Planet and the Planeteers, but let's remember that this series is bringing the eco-message to a whole new generation of kids.

Sesame Street

For generations Sesame Street and its muppets have entertained and educated children around the world. Now the classic TV series has gone modern with its move to the internet. It's a smart move which offers children a safe place to play online, and parents real peace of mind. This is a much better option than sending your kids to YouTube.

Billionaire Warren Buffett is putting his dollars to good use in the new educational children's webseries Secret Millionaire's Club. With its catchy theme song and fun animated characters, the show is a palatable way to train kids to be financially savvy. Twenty-six episodes have already been commissioned, but hopefully more will follow.

Smart Girls at the Party

Smart Girls at the Party is the latest series to join our educational children's category, but there's plenty here to entertain adults as well. In each episode the hosts Amy Poehler, Amy Miles, and Meredith Walker interview preteen girls with big ideas. The atmosphere is fun and positive, promoting self confidence and ambitions of young girls.

However the sponsorship by Barbie is a little curious. Surely the big breasted blonde doll represents everything this program is rebelling against!

Trading Up ( 12/1/2008 )

Trading Up

Do you remember that story of the guy who started with a paper clip, and with some careful trading ended up owning a house? It might seem crazy, but our latest business and economy program, Trading Up, shows it's not as far-fetched as you might think.

The teams of children start with a penny, and show you just how far a humble coin can really go!

Make it Awesome ( 11/30/2008 )

Make it Awesome

Make it Awesome is the latest web series to join our educational children's category. In each episode the young hosts and their adult friend Blake make a fun craft project, then use a little creativity to "make it awesome."

This program manages to strike the right balance between education and fun. I only wish there were more episodes! With school vacation approaching, it'll take more than two shows to keep the kids entertained.

Histeria

The hysterically funny history series, Histeria, is the latest addition to our cartoon category.

The animated series follows the adventures of Father Time, who leads expeditions to the past. He introduces his friends Loud Kiddington, Toast and Froggo, to great historical figures including Napoleon, Christopher Columbus and Amelia Earhart.

Children will barely notice they're learning while watching these entertaining animated videos.
