The idea of watching a weather forecast for a city that's far from you doesn't sound that appealing on paper, yet Weatherman with Kelli Bland has somehow become an internet smash. It's more comedy show than real weather forecast, although that's there too if you're a native of Austin, Texas.

The team from Studio 8 brings you a range of sketches, series, and other funny stuff. We've seen plenty of similar comedy channel's online, but few are as consistent as the work these comedians produce. There's a lot of content here but it's all well organized so it never feels overwhelming.

The experiences of real life British university students inform the animated comedy series Uni-Form. Don't expect belly laughs from this webseries, but there is a sweetness about this gentle sitcom. New episodes take some time coming – we've been waiting for a second full-length installment since August - but I suppose high-quality animated doesn't come together quickly!

David M Pickett has carefully created an entire world from LEGO bricks for his animated comedy series The Nightly News at Nine. The program's name is fairly ordinary, but with robots and dragons making appearances this show certainly isn't. The only downside is that stop-motion animation of this caliber doesn't come quickly. With months passing between episodes it takes a considerable amount of time to see the next installment.

Scott Hather's created a little bit of cartoon silliness with The Duleks, an animated comedy following a family of three Dalek like aliens. While their creator cleverly insists the likeness is purely coincidental, Dr Who fans should get a kick out of this playful twist on the traditional family sitcom.

The animated videos and comics of the enigmatic Grey Gerling are showcased in the animated comedy channel Tales of BarfQuestion. This is really off the wall stuff with evil hamsters and giant sperm posing as horses, but that's a big part of its charm. It's always refreshing to see something different, and this certainly fits the bill.

Amy Schloerb's comedy combines with simple cartoons in the animated comedy series SchloerBITS. The material's amusing but the series is let down by poor sound quality. While it probably sounds good in the comedy clubs, it's distracting here. Re-recording the skits before committing them to the web would have resulted in a much slicker program.

The snarky narration of Eric DerManouelian and fun minimalist illustrations of Scott Gowin come together in the old school computer game series Retro Rant. The creators are keen gamers so they really know their stuff, although you certainly don't need to share their passion to enjoy this humorous web program.

The life and loves of an idealistic college drop-out are played out in the animated comedy series Love & Comics. The protagonist Drew has a dream; he wants to be a great comic book writer and to meet the perfect woman. Now he just has to make it happen. Four episodes in and neither dream is realized, but Drew's so endearing that we are invested in his journey.

Jonathan Katz, the star of Explosion Bus and Dr Katz: Professional Therapist, brings his life to the web with the animated comedy series Hey! We're Back. Don't expect the belly laughs of more mainstream comedy fare, but the gentle humor and gorgeous hand-drawn black and white animation is very endearing.
