The Casting Office ( 2/2/2012 )

The Casting Office

The Casting Office combines the conventions of soap operas, sitcoms, and satires to cast a critical eye over the film industry. This isn't the world of Brad and Angelina; instead it looks at struggling actors who feel lucky to land a commercial. The concept is ripe for comedy but this series feels a bit like a one-joke wonder after a few episodes.

Stuck With You ( 1/26/2012 )

Stuck With You

The life of a young musical prodigy struggling with the death of her dad doesn't sound like the stuff of situation comedy, but it makes for a good mix of laughs and moving moments in the family sitcom Stuck With You. It's refreshing to see an online programming offering as much for kids as it does adults. Episodes are a little slow to be released as it's an independent production, but it's great family fare.

Short Term ( 1/26/2012 )

Short Term

Short Term is the latest workplace sitcom to hit tVadio's comedy channel. We've seen this formula many times before, but the focus on three employees at the Short Term Agency allows us to really connect with the well drawn characters. Discover season one before season two launches in the fall!

Perks ( 1/18/2012 )

Perks

We follow the lives and loves of the employees of coffee shop Lemonjello's in the comedy series Perks. This isn't revolutionary stuff by any means, but the series has a gentle humor that's really endearing. It's just a shame that without any big budget backers we're left waiting some time between episodes.

Naked in a Fishbowl ( 1/16/2012 )

Naked in a Fishbowl

So much internet comedy feels the same. Take a couple of fun loving male college pals with a camera and rinse and repeat. So when a series like Naked in a Fishbowl catches my eye, I stop and pay attention. It's made entirely by women, from the cast the crew, and filmed live on a New York stage. There are no scripts, just the spontaneous humor of some very funny ladies. What a breath of fresh air!

McCracken Live ( 1/12/2012 )

McCracken Live!

Move over Martha Stewart; Carol Ann McCracken wants your domestic goddess crown! With her sitcom series McCracken, we see the fierce and fabulous drag queen in front of the cameras and behind the always dramatic scenes. It's like 30 Rock with a lot more sequins and just a smidge more sass!

Bizness as Usual ( 12/19/2011 )

Bizness as Usual

After four seasons, the team from web sitcom Bizness as Usual is about to call it a day. There are still a few more episodes to go before that fateful day though, so it's a good time to discover the series if you haven't already. The content is sound, but the website lets it down with many links heading to unexpected locations. Hopefully once things wrap the creators can work on making a more polished home for their work.

The Duleks ( 12/8/2011 )

The Duleks

Scott Hather's created a little bit of cartoon silliness with The Duleks, an animated comedy following a family of three Dalek like aliens. While their creator cleverly insists the likeness is purely coincidental, Dr Who fans should get a kick out of this playful twist on the traditional family sitcom.

Vampire Zombie Werewolf

Halloween may be done and dusted, but web producers are still keeping into the spooky spirit with the release of some creepy new series. The latest to join the fold is Vampire Zombie Werewolf, a black sitcom about an ordinary guy who suddenly finds himself living with a couple of Vampire Zombie Werewolves. It all sounds pretty farfetched, but that's half the fun.

Quiet Desperation ( 7/26/2010 )

Quiet Desperation

Quiet Desperation sets itself up as a mix of traditional sitcom and reality TV. In actuality it's a mockumentary that sits somewhat uncomfortably alongside programs like The Office and Parks and Recreation. I say uncomfortably, because the laughs often feel forced and we're left wondering where the desperation of the title is. A series about struggling artists in America is a great concept, but it needs more authenticity than this.
