Los Angeles based and Australian born filmmaker Clea Frost turns her attention to the web with her ambitious thriller web series, The Apocalypse Diaries. The series is carefully constructed using "found footage" recorded by Jen Frost, an ordinary girl unwittingly trapped in post apocalyptic Los Angeles. The fast moving plot and high tension help keep viewers hooked.

AIDAN 5 pushes the boundaries of the futuristic science fiction webseries with its gritty narrative, mix of hand-drawn art and live action footage, and shoestring budget. It's clearly a labor of love for the cast and crew of volunteers, and their passion shows. Every episode seems to end on a cliffhanger which has us hanging out for the next.

eScape is a unique science fiction series which focuses on the oft-neglected teen viewing audience. Having said that, the edge of your seat sci-fi web program is great fun for older geeks too. It's disappointing that in the shift from Vimeo to YouTube, the creators of eScape haven't taken their first season with them. It'd be a great way for anyone late to the series to get up to speed.

Webseries Animus Cross is so compelling because it's like nothing else online, or on television for that matter. There's a dash of western, a few parts thriller, and even historical drama thrown in the mix. And best of all, there's not a hint of college humor or scantily clad women to be seen. If you're looking for something truly unique online, this could be it.

Many webseries strive to shine a light on real life. Others like new drama series Dangerous Women revel in absurdity. The series sees The Evil Dead actresses Ellen Sandweiss, Betsy Baker, and Theresa Tilly reunited as suburban housewives with evil doubles. The premise is ridiculous, but if you suspend your disbelief it's a lot of fun.

Two years in and some 12 episodes later, After Judgment has become one of the most popular science fiction series online. In the vein of Jericho and The Road, this webseries is set in a post-apocalyptic world which never sees night. For added value, the channel also features episodes of the prequel series, Before Judgment.

With the popularity of the Twilight movies and the drama True Blood, vampires are so hot right now. In that mould comes the teen drama Vampire Dairies. You’ve seen it all before: beautiful but young teen girl, handsome vampire committed to a life of non-violence, and obstacles they must overcome before they find true love. No matter how formulaic though, this is entertaining fodder for vampire fans.

Rift is a dark science fiction series starring Thomas Crawford. He plays Blake Loch, a scientist whose work into the formation of black holes opens up a rift in the time space continuum. Just one episode of this slick sci fi has been posted so far, but that 10-minute program has enough hooks to inspire fans of the genre. This is eerie stuff indeed.

Vampires are hot property these days, with young girls everywhere lusting after the lads from Twilight and True Blood. In an already saturated market comes I <3 Vampires, a webseries which delivers more of the vampires girls love.

It might seem a little superfluous, but with the popularity of vampires at an all time high fans will eat this teen drama up.

In the 1990s, MTV was about more than music clips and reality TV programs. It was pushing the boundaries with innovative animated series like The Maxx. While it may have wrapped up long ago, MTV is now bringing this cult classic to a whole new generation with full episodes available online.
