Los Angeles based and Australian born filmmaker Clea Frost turns her attention to the web with her ambitious thriller web series, The Apocalypse Diaries. The series is carefully constructed using "found footage" recorded by Jen Frost, an ordinary girl unwittingly trapped in post apocalyptic Los Angeles. The fast moving plot and high tension help keep viewers hooked.

Pioneer One is one of the most ambitious drama series I've seen on the web. Equal parts political thriller and science fiction, the complex series unfolds slowly, rewarding its viewers for their patience. With episodes clocking in at more than half an hour a piece they may seem like a slog for the YouTube generation, but their depth is impressive.

A webseries consisting of a sequence of 31-second episodes sounds a bit gimmicky, but gimmick doesn't tell the whole story of the paranormal thriller, 31 the Webseries. Through a series of rapid-fire videos the story of a woman trapped in the dark unfolds. Who is she? How did she get there? And what awaits her if she does indeed escape? It's that desire for answers that keeps us tuning in.

Goon is a series shrouded in mystery. Several episodes in we know little about the cast, or the way the thrilling drama will unravel. What we do know is that this is gripping and gritty viewing. You’ll need a strong stomach to withstand the grisly scenes of violence and torture, but if you can stand it this is a skillfully made webseries.

Webseries Animus Cross is so compelling because it's like nothing else online, or on television for that matter. There's a dash of western, a few parts thriller, and even historical drama thrown in the mix. And best of all, there's not a hint of college humor or scantily clad women to be seen. If you're looking for something truly unique online, this could be it.

With Lost winding down, drama nuts are looking for their next fix. The dramatic thriller web series Tyranny is promising to be that fix, with its twist and turns and conspiracies. Just like Lost, you never quite know what's going to happen next. Few webseries truly keep you guessing, so this is a bit of a bolt from the blue.

The thrills come thick and fast in the action series Trading Eights. The plot, which involves a search for astrologically named assassins provides plenty of tense moments and cliffhangers. Thankfully new episodes are added every Monday and Friday, so we're never left waiting for too long.

The vampire genre is saturated these days with mainstream offerings Twilight, True Blood, and The Vampire Diaries joining a slew of independent productions. Considering this glut it’s hard for a new vampire series to stand apart, but Bleed manages to do just that. Drawing comparisons to Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the blend of comedy and horror found in this series is refreshing.

The interactive potential of the internet is explored in the new Canadian drama series, Radio Free Krakow. While casual observers can follow the story of radio vigilante and suspected nutjob Sol, those wanting to be more involved can actively participate in the series. It's an exciting use of the internet, which only hints at how far online series will go.

Two years in and some 12 episodes later, After Judgment has become one of the most popular science fiction series online. In the vein of Jericho and The Road, this webseries is set in a post-apocalyptic world which never sees night. For added value, the channel also features episodes of the prequel series, Before Judgment.
