The contestants of Canadian Idol continue to impress me with their musical instincts and heartfelt performances. This week I was wowed by Oliver Pigott, one of two amazing Pigott brothers making up this year’s top 20.

Sebastian may have scored the family’s good looks, but I think Oliver was blessed with the best voice. It’s got this amazing guttural rasp which gives it a real vulnerability.

And what better song to show off that sensitive side than Elton John’s plea for forgiveness, Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word? Predictably he nails it. I can’t wait to see what he brings to the table next week!
