August 2nd, 2008

As we prepare for the upcoming Beijing Games, I thought I’d take a look back at one of my favorite Olympics moments. This video embodies the Olympic spirit: not being the fastest or the best, but simply giving it a go.

I give you Eric “The Eel” Moussambani’s historic swim at the Sydney Games in 2000.

Hilarious Balloon Release Video | Charity Stunt Doesn’t Go As Planned

July 31st, 2008

This video was intended to capture a sweet charity event organized by the students of Bristol’s University of West England. Instead it shows that a college education doesn’t necessarily give you a lot of insight.

The saintly scholars planned to release pink balloons for orphans. I’m not sure what benefit the balloons would be to the orphans, but this was the plan. However, it all goes horribly wrong in more ways than one.

Theo Tams “Canadian Idol” Top 8 Video | Theo Unplugged Makes Me “Weak at the Knees”

July 30th, 2008

Considering the caliber of this year’s Canadian Idol contestants, I had high hopes for this week’s unplugged show. It definitely didn’t disappoint. This stripped back format really gave each singer a chance to shine, and it was wonderful to watch.

Amazing Dinosaur at LA Natural History Museum Video

July 27th, 2008

When I was a kid, I remember my parents taking me to see some moving dinosaurs at the museum. But this was the late 80s. Their movements were jerky, and it was so obvious they weren’t real.

Compare that disappointment to this exhibition from the Los Angeles Natural History Museum. This even has the adult me impressed. And that’s not to mention the delight on the faces of all the children who are thrilled to come face to face with a “real life” dinosaur!

Bush or Batman Video | Secret Pants Ask Who Said It

July 26th, 2008

What does the American president George Bush have in common with iconic crime fighter Batman? You might guess there’s not much, but you’d be wrong. As you can see in this clip, they both have a love of grandio-secret-pants-ask-who-said-itse speeches.

In fact, when you hear quotes from George W and the 60s TV hero Batman it’s virtually impossible to tell the difference!
