Things are really heating up on Canadian Idol, with just 10 singers remaining. This year has unearthed some amazing talent, and it’s becoming harder and harder to predict who will be sent packing.

One man that I hope is safe for several weeks to come is Theo Tams. He comes out and delivers consistently brilliant performances every single week, and this one is no exception.

He has a knack for picking obscure songs, and managed to do it again on David Bowie night. Silly Boy Blue was released on Bowie’s first album, so it never reached the dizzy heights of many of his recordings.

No matter how good an Idol star is, they’re never going to compare to Bowie. In picking a largely unknown song, Theo could stamp his own personality on it. Free of those comparisons many of the performers faces, he could really shine.

I love his phrasing and musicality, and can’t wait to see what he surprises us with next week!
