Ancient DOS Games
Shareware designer Kris Asick takes a trip down memory lane with the video games series Ancient DOS Games.
Asick isn't concerned about the latest titles or consoles. Instead his program focuses on old PC games created using the Disk Operating System known as DOS. While a decade or two has passed since their first creation, Asick waxes lyrical about the features that made them so appealing. He also discusses ways that nostalgia buffs can play them again on their modern computer systems.
Each episode focuses on a single game from the past. Asick shows viewers footage from the game, discusses how you can own it today, and how to run the game on a modern computer using a DOSBox emulator.
The main Ancient DOS Games page contains a description of the webseries and a list of previous episodes. Alternatively users can click the links in the navigation bar to the left to filter only episodes from a particular season, fillers, or an A to Z list of episodes.
Clicking on an episode title takes viewers to the individual episode page. This contains a large video player and additional information and corrections pertaining to the episode. The information often contains a link allowing fans to download and try the games discussed for themselves.
Parental guidance is recommended as some Ancient DOS Games episodes contain mature content. However these are marked as such in the episode list.
