As The World Turns Full Episodes

As the World Turns is one of the longest-running soap operas on American television. The daily drama series follows the lives of the close-knit community of Oakdale, Illinois.

The series focuses around six key families: the Hughes family, the Montgomeries, the Ryans, the Snyders, the Stewarts, and the Walshes. The upper class households are led by successful professionals, including doctors and lawyers. The action moves gradually, imitating the patterns of life itself.

The program pioneered the extended half hour drama format when it made its debut in 1956. Viewers were slow to respond to these longer episodes, but by 1958 As the World Turns became the number one daytime drama in America. In 1975 the program expanded again to occupy a one hour time slot. In 1988 the show again grabbed headlines when it introduced the first gay male character on daytime television.

As the World Turned launched the careers of many of Hollywood’s biggest names including Martin Sheen, Meg Ryan, and Julianne Moore.
