Blade of the Immortal is a Japanese anime series based on Hiroaki Samura's manga comic of the same name. It follows the adventures of Manji, a nomadic samurai striving to lift his curse of immortality.

The 800-year-old nun Yobikuni cursed Manji with immortality to punish him for his vicious past. He has grown tired of life on Earth, and so repents for his sins. But to lift the curse and make amends for his own crimes, he must kill one thousand evil men.

Manji survives on sacred bloodworms, which allow him to heal his wounds and even reattach limbs until his quest is complete.

The Blade of the Immortal series was directed by Koichi Mashimo. It ran for a single season, and a total of 13 episodes, in 2008.
