Channel 101

Channel 101 is an American channel showcasing videos submitted for a monthly short film festival of the same name. The festival is based in Los Angeles, but the site allows people from all around the world to view the videos submitted for this monthly event.

Each month around 10 programs are submitted for screening. The ones which receive favorable reviews become "prime time shows." This interactive site allows users to decide which webseries should be renewed for the next month, which new pilots will be picked up, and which programs should be axed.

Short films are limited to five minutes in length. As Channel 101 supports aspiring filmmakers, they are invited to submit as many pilots as they wish.

While the filmmakers often have small budgets, they still manage to attract some big name talent. Jack Black, Drew Carey, Jason Lee, and Sarah Silverman have all made appearances on Channel 101 videos.

Channel 101 is the brainchild of Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab, the creators of Acceptable TV. The site contains a mix of prime time shows, failed pilots, and more.

Browsers can stream videos from the site, or download them to view later. The downloads are available in Quicktime format. Buttons underneath the web player allow browsers to pause and play the videos, adjust their volume, and toggle between regular and full screen mode.

Parental guidance is recommended as some videos contain adult themes, sexual references, and coarse language.
