ER is an award-winning medical drama set in the emergency room of the fictional County General Hospital.

The ensemble cast includes Goran Visnjic, Maura Tierney, Mekhi Phifer, John Stamos, and Linda Cardellini. They play doctors working in the Chicago hospital, a Level One Trauma Center where they must make life and death decisions on a daily basis. Most episodes center on the emergency room, and most scenes are shot in the hospital.

ER is based on a screenplay by author Michael Crichton. He is currently involved with the series as its executive producer. He has helped make ER the longest-running American primetime medical drama of all time.
