Flash Gordon is an American science fiction series, based on the classic comic of the same name. The program stars Eric Johnson as Steven "Flash" Gordon.

Flash lives a quiet life with his mother in Maryland. His father, a scientist, disappeared mysteriously when Flash was just 13 years old. Flash's ex-girlfriend, Dale Arden, is a news reporter engaged to the police detective Joe Wylee.

When rifts in space appear, allowing travel between Earth and the planet Mongo, Flash and Dale meet Hans, Flash's father's former assistant. This meeting rocks their ordinary existence, and the trio have some extraordinary adventures.

The cruel dictator Ming rules Mongo. The people of Mongo live in tribal groups called cantons. They include the forest-dwelling Verdan, the magical Omadrians, the ocean-dwelling Tritons, and the Frigians who live in the frozen wastelands.
