IndiaUnheard
The stories of India's poor and marginalized residents are brought to light in the community news series IndiaUnheard.
The program feels more like a documentary than a traditional news series, with stories dealt with in depth rather than presented as a series of headlines. The episodes tell the tales of the people around them and their experiences, stories that are never told by mainstream media outlets. Through the videos we learn about India's tribal people and the untouchable Dalits, as well as sexual, religious, and lingual minorities.
The videos are produced by filmmakers living in India's underprivileged rural communities. These correspondents are trained in video journalism and storytelling to ensure their episodes are professional produced and engaging.
Many episodes feature India's native Hindi dialect, but English subtitles are also provided. A large image corresponding to the most recent episode of India Unheard is presented on the channel's main page, with smaller images below it corresponding to other previous episodes. Clicking on the navigational tabs above the main image allows fans to filter videos according to their topic area or Indian region featured.
Clicking the images takes viewers to the individual episode pages. These contain a video player and information about the video and its filmmaker. Controls along the bottom of the player window allow browsers to pause and play the clips, adjust the volume, share them with friends and view them in full screen mode. Buttons at either side of the player give browsers advanced functionality, allowing them to rate the videos, embed them in a personal website, link to the episode, and more.
