Indie Asia

Indie Asia is part music program and part travel show, a web series which follows Dan Boeckner and Alexei Perry of indie rock outfit The Handsome Furs through their travels around Asia.

This real life married couple veers off the well worn tourist path as they take us to dynamic locations in China, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Thailand. As musicians, their experiences of the country are colored by their desire to play their music, often without authorization, in these nations.

The episodes as a mix of professional travel footage and more candid scenes caught on the pair’s own Flip camera.

The series is the result of a collaboration between television giant CNN and independent record label Sup Pop Records, which has signed The Handsome Furs.

The simple video player allows fans to pause and play the episodes, adjust their volume, and view them in full screen mode. Buttons underneath the player allow fans to share the clips with friends on social networking pages and e-mail.

New episodes are released every Thursday.
