Magic Night Rayearth is a Japanese anime series based on the Clamp manga comic of the same name. It follows the adventures of three magical girls from Tokyo fighting to save the mythical world of Cephiro.

When her kingdom is threatened, Princess Emeraude of Cephiro looks to three schoolgirls from Earth to save the day. Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji are simply visiting the Tokyo Tower on school excursions, and never expect to be summoned by a magical princess!

They are taken to Cephiro where they meet Master Mage Clef, who explains that their inner strength and optimism have the power to restore order to the land. The girls become Magic Knights, and must look deep inside their hearts to find the strength to overcome evil.

The Magic Night Rayearth series was directed by Toshihiro Hirano. It ran for two seasons, and a total of 49 episodes, from 1994 to 1995.
