NBC Olympic Games Live

NBC Olympics is a sports channel delivering action from the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.

Leading up to the games, the site features classic Olympics highlights and interviews with the 2008 Olympians. At games time the site plans to showcase 2,200 hours of Olympics action. The coverage will highlight all sports, including athletics, swimming, basketball, gymnastics, cycling, and much more.

Olympics fans can watch the streaming coverage, or choose any of the archived videos. Users can easily find the videos that interest them using the navigational drop-down menus. These allow browsers to search for videos by country, sport, athlete, and type. They can also choose to view the site's most popular, most recent, and most voted videos.

Browsers must have the Windows Vista operating system and Microsoft Silverlight software before viewing NBC Olympics videos. Olympics fans can download Microsoft Silverlight direct from the NBC Olympics site.

The videos open in an individual pop up window. Browsers can view the videos using the standard player, or the more streamlined enhanced player.

Users can pause, play, or mute the videos using controls below the standard player. Another button underneath this player allows Olympics fans to share the videos by e-mailing them to friends or linking them to their personal websites. Browsers can easily navigate to other videos using the standard player. The player displays related videos alongside information about the sport and its athletes.

Users can also search for more videos using the text box to the right of the standard player. A selection of archived videos is displayed below this which browsers may also be interested in viewing.

A button below the standard player allows browsers to switch to the enhanced player. This features a much larger viewing window and an adjustable volume control. Icons to the left of the enhanced player help browsers explore the videos available. These buttons will directly take viewers to Olympics highlights, television broadcasts, detailed videos about the Olympic sports, and the most watched videos. It can also take sports fans to the live video control room. This innovative feature allows browsers to view four Olympic events at the same time.
