The Commish is a police drama series starring Michael Chiklis as a police commissioner working in a small New York state town.

Chiklis plays Tony Scali, a easygoing cop who uses his brains and sense of humor, rather than weaponry or force, to crack each case. While Scali is committed to his job, he is also committed to his wife Rachel, teenage son David, and baby girl. The series balances scenes of police drama with tender and touching family moments.

The Commish touched on topical issues of the time, including homophobia, racial tensions, child abuse, drug addiction, and sexual harassment in the workplace.

The Commish aired for a total of five seasons, and 94 episodes, between 1991 and 1996. Each one lasts between 45 and 50 minutes.
