The Tester

The Tester is an online reality TV series which sees computer game enthusiasts competing for a job as a professional video game tester at Sony PlayStation.

The lucky 12 participants were chosen from a pool of more than 28, 000 applicants. They compete in high-pressure challenges in each weekly episode. Their performance in these challenges is judged by a panel of celebrities, including video game director Stig Asmussen and model Adrianne Curry. One contestant is eliminated each week until the final winner is awarded the position at Sony PlayStation.

Despite its online format, the series follows a typical television style reality format with 25-30 minute episodes and scheduled advertisements from sponsors Ford, Electronic Arts, and U.S. Air Force.

Episodes are launched exclusively on the PlayStation 3 console. They are then published online at the Playstation website a week later, before eventually landing on PlayStation's YouTube channel.
