Trading Up

Trading Up is a business and economy program with a difference. In this modern-day scavenger hunt, teams exchange items for something more.

Trading Up is hosted by Chris Mass. He gives each team of enterprising young people a penny. They must trade this seemingly insignificant coin for an object or cash worth much more. As the teams make more and more deals they realize the true value of trading.

Different locations and tools to help, and hinder, the teams make the episodes interesting. We also regularly check in with the team’s progress with regular Price Check segments.

At the series end, each team's final item is auctioned off. The one with the most expensive item is declared the winner. All money raised is then donated to charity.

Each episode is filmed in high-definition video, to ensure the quality is excellent even when viewing in full-screen mode.

Browsers can sort the videos according to their date of release, number of comments, and popularity.

Once fans choose a clip from the video menu they are taken to a new screen with a large player. The player's controls allow users to stop and play the video, adjust its volume, and view it in full screen mode.

Links underneath the playing screen allow fans to easily embed the video into their personal website, or send the videos to friends. Below this there is a video synopsis which gives details about what topic is covered in each clip.

Other episodes in the same series are shown to the right of the player, allowing fans to easily navigate around the site. Below this episode guide are subscribe links, which allow fans to receive alerts when new Trading Up videos are added.

Videos are free for anyone to watch, however additional features including the ability to leave comments are available to users who register for a free subscription.
